Lucia Bone Founder and Executive Director of the Sue Weaver CAUSE (Consumer Awareness of Unsafe Service Employment) will be on the Today Show tomorrow morning Monday August 19th 2013.
Lucia will discuss the tragedy involving her sister Sue Weaver, who was raped and murdered by a service worker that was dispatched to her Orlando home.
Unbeknownst to Sue, the department store that she contracted the work with sent two convicted felons to her home in the Doctor Phillips section of Orlando, one of the two criminals was Jeffrey Hefling, a twice convicted rapist that was out on parole at the time. NO BACKGROUND CHECK was conducted on these two felons; Hefling’s profile was even up on the Florida Sex Offender Registry. http://bit.ly/FLsexoffender
If the company performed a criminal records check, they would have discovered Hefling’s criminal past and the company would have never hired him in the first place and this tragedy would have been prevented.
It’s important to note that the EEOC is trying to protect criminals like Hefling by suing companies that conduct criminal background checks. Just last month the EEOC initiated a lawsuit against BMW and Dollar General because they refused to hire individuals who had criminal records for violent crimes such as rape.
These companies check for criminal records when hiring new employees to protect their co-workers and customers from criminals who have committed heinous crimes like Hefling.
Remember the VICTIMS and their families, they are not statistics to be forgotten about, the VICTIMS have names.
